If so, you may be interested to hear that the proportion of home loans given to borrowers with an impaired credit history in the third quarter of this year was 0.4 per cent for the second quarter in succession.

This is according to the latest Mortgage Lending Data report from the Financial Services Authority, which went on to show that this figure has been below one per cent for the past three years.

It added that there were 34,900 new arrears cases in Q3 – was down two per cent on last quarter – with the number of new possessions in the quarter up by two per cent to 9,670.

Meanwhile, the total value of outstanding loans at the end of the third quarter was £1,218 billion, an increase of 0.2 per cent on the previous three-month period.
